Stop hoping

Hope
We all hope for stuff.
We hope that we will end the semester with good grades, we hope that we can trust that our friends won’t tell our secrets, we hope that there’s someone out there who will love us. We hope that we will get the job we want, we hope, and then we hope some more.
We don’t recognize our hope very often though.
We often say things like, “I hope so.”
But we tend to think that hope is something that we will always have to hope for, but might never achieve. That’s why we use the word hope.
When God sent His Son to Earth thousands of years ago, hope was born unto us all. By sending Jesus to Earth, we were given hope of a better everlasting life. We were given hope of being saved and loved. And then after He died and rose again, we were given the hope of forgiven sins. We don’t have to hope for those things anymore, because they have already been given to us.
But now, we hope for things that we don’t have. Yet.
Hope isn’t a bad thing by any means. But we can’t JUST hope. We must also believe, and have faith. Because hope isn’t always enough.
Stop hoping that God will do things in your life. Instead, BELIEVE that HE WILL do things in your life. HAVE FAITH that HE WILL do things in your life.
Don’t just say “I hope God can do this or that.”
Say, “God, I believe that You are able to do not just this or that, but ANYTHING.”
But don’t be confused. Just because you believe that God can do anything (He can), doesn’t mean that He will. When you have faith and believe, you must remember that God always knows what is best for you. Just because He can do it, doesn’t mean He will. And you have to trust Him on that.
So stop having hope.
Have faith and believe.
